Little Red Pen Publishing, LLC offers technical and literary consultation and editing services to a wide range of clients.

Owner Deb Barnes’ 40 years of practical experience informs each and every project she undertakes. A licensed professional engineer in the state of Minnesota, she worked for 11 years as a consulting engineer designing highways, interchanges, bridges and other civil engineering projects for private and public clients across the U.S.

She has edited dozens of doctoral dissertations and technical papers submitted to scientific journals.

She spent 10 years as managing editor of an award-winning community newspaper. She managed a newsroom of journalists who produced eight community newspapers on a weekly and biweekly basis. In that capacity, she helped launch a food and restaurant magazine. Her poetry has appeared in a number of literary journals, including several well-known children’s magazines.

For 13 years she was actively involved in local government, including a nine-year stint as an elected city councilwoman and four years as a planning commissioner.

Clients have included consulting engineering companies, manufacturing and retail companies, bloggers, college students, newspaper publishers, a poetry journal, local governments, software developers, high-schoolers, book authors and seasoned academics needing a careful eye.
